Laptop Inspection Checklist
Inspect the power cord.
Plug in power adapter to laptop.
Cracked screen?
Test the Trackpad.
Visual inspection of ports (be prepared to check if looks bad)
Check bottom of case for missing screws
Test the keyboard.
Check laptop "shell" for dents.
Complete and sign the "Laptop Assignment" form.
Check the laptop in using Destiny.
Inspect the power cord.
- Do you see exposed wires? If so, do not plug in. Fire/shock hazard. Student will need to replace power adapter. *If broken near the "brick", no charge to student.
Plug in power adapter to laptop.
- Do you get a light?
- Does the laptop power on?
- Have student log in.
Cracked screen?
- Diagonal lines in screen indicate trauma. Vertical/horizontal lines may be covered under warranty.
Test the Trackpad.
- Does it work?
- Is it cracked?
Visual inspection of ports (be prepared to check if looks bad)
- Check USB ports
- Check headphone jack
- Check SD Card slot
Check bottom of case for missing screws
- If screws are missing, check for damaged/separation at seams along edge of laptop
Test the keyboard.
- Missing keys?
- Sticky keys?
- Loose keys?
Check laptop "shell" for dents.
- Does the dent prevent the laptop from working properly?
- Does the dent intefere with the laptop lid closing?
Complete and sign the "Laptop Assignment" form.
- Give a copy to the student and keep one to file.
Check the laptop in using Destiny.
