First... Schools should not throw technology into the dumpsters. We want to dispose of things properly.
Computers (whether desktops or laptops) will be collected at end of life by either the Ed Tech department staff, or by a vendor with which we have negotiated a deal. Drives will be removed, or data deleted, or an agreement with a vendor to provide this service will be provided.
Peripherals such as printers, speakers, keyboards, etc... are typically left to the school to dispose. Simply take to any reputable recycling center, and keep a listing of what was disposed of, where it went, and the date, on file in case needed.
You can print a sheet of labels by selecting:
Reports Tab --> Labels --> barcode labels --> Select by (drop down) barcode list --> type in numbers you want.
Select the label type to use, Avery for example.
How does a school dispose of old printers, televisions, or other electronic equipment other than computers?
Work with your custodial staff on how to discard. You may need to check with your trash collection provider (varies from school to school) to see if there are any special rules regarding disposal of electronics in your landfill.
If the equipment has an asset tag then the school needs to contact Steve Rockwell at the Central Office so that he can remove them from his inventory.
